About Personal Counseling Services Inc
Personal Counseling Services is a Solihten Institute-accredited counseling center in Clarksville, Indiana, that has offered mental health care to individuals, couples, and families since 1959. Alongside general therapy, psychiatry, and pastoral counseling, they run an adult outpatient Substance Use Disorder Program that treats addiction as a brain disease. The program is built around SAMHSA’s definition of recovery as a process of improving health, living self-directed, and reaching one’s potential. Care is offered in person or remotely across three levels: early intervention for people at risk or just starting to misuse substances, standard outpatient, and intensive outpatient (IOP).
The IOP is designed for moderate to severe substance use disorders and involves three-hour group sessions three days a week for 12 weeks, plus two individual sessions each month. Groups follow an Interactive Journaling curriculum and include sessions with board-certified music therapists, a feature that sets this program apart from many outpatient options. Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselors lead treatment using Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and the Transtheoretical Model of Change, with family counseling, co-occurring mental health care, and medication management available within the same practice. They accept most commercial insurance, Indiana Medicaid, and TriCare, and uninsured clients can use a fee scale based on household income.
