About Passages Ventura

Passages Ventura is a holistic, non-12-step addiction treatment center in Port Hueneme, California, opened in 2009 by father and son Chris and Pax Prentiss as the second program after Passages Malibu. They see drug and alcohol use as a symptom of deeper problems, which they group into four causes: chemical imbalance, unresolved past events, present-day circumstances a person struggles to cope with, and beliefs that aren’t true. Instead of labeling clients as addicts or describing addiction as a lifelong disease, they focus on resolving those root issues so sobriety becomes easier to sustain. Care includes medically supervised detox and adult residential treatment, and they are also state-licensed for partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programming.

Individual therapy is the core of the program, with roughly 25 hours of one-on-one sessions each month. Every client works with a dedicated team that includes a medical doctor, primary therapist, chemical dependency counselor, and hypnotherapist, among other specialists. Detox is medication-assisted and tailored to an intake assessment of each person’s health and substance use history, with 24-hour nursing, ongoing safety monitoring, massage for muscle aches, and the option to meet with therapists before withdrawal is complete. They are accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF, and they accept health insurance.
