About Palm Tree Ranch
Palm Tree Ranch, operated by Towns Health Services in Herald, California, is an adult treatment program for drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Their care is led by Dr. Towns, a physician double board-certified in addiction medicine and internal medicine, and each client’s plan is built around their health, substance use history, and personal goals. Clients can enter inpatient residential treatment at the Herald and Galt facilities or attend partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient counseling serving the Lodi, Galt, Sacramento, and Elk Grove areas. The program is licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services and accredited by the Joint Commission.
Residential length of stay is decided individually during the first assessment. PHP offers structured, intensive treatment while participants still return home each day. They regularly work with people referred through CPS and drug court, as well as Medi-Cal members, veterans, military personnel, union members, and healthcare workers. Nurses and EMTs can receive confidential evaluations from Dr. Towns that meet Board of Registered Nursing and Emergency Medical Services Authority requirements. Staff help clients sort out insurance, including in-network coverage with Tricare, Triwest, Cigna, Evernorth, and Medi-Cal, and explain how California State Disability Insurance can protect income during time off work. After treatment, clients are connected with outpatient care and peer groups such as AA, NA, and Al-Anon.
