About Optimal Behavioral Health
Optimal Behavioral Health is an outpatient behavioral health provider based in Villas, New Jersey, serving families across South Jersey counties including Cape May, Atlantic, Cumberland, and Camden. They treat alcohol and drug dependence alongside mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, and anger, and they’re equipped to work with people facing both at once. Care often starts with a substance use assessment by a licensed, certified counselor, who uses the Addiction Severity Index to recommend the right level of care. From there, options include an intensive outpatient program, ongoing relapse prevention, and medication-assisted treatment.
The adult intensive outpatient program meets three days a week for at least nine hours of group education and counseling, with one hour of individual counseling and family sessions added as needed. People who have stopped using but want continued support can join relapse prevention groups that meet two hours weekly, paired with individual sessions on a weekly or monthly basis. For teens, the THRIVE program runs as an after-school intensive outpatient track two days a week with transportation provided, combining group, individual, and family counseling with peer mentoring, creative expression, vocational awareness, and random drug screening. They also offer a Vivitrol program using monthly naltrexone injections for opioid or alcohol dependence, along with counseling, psychiatric care from a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, and in-home assessments and family counseling for children.
