About Ohlhoff Recovery Programs
Ohlhoff Recovery Programs is a long-running alcohol and drug treatment provider based on a historic Victorian campus near San Francisco’s Alamo Square, where they have helped people recover from addiction since 1958. Their approach pairs a 12-Step, social model of recovery with evidence-based methods, built on the belief that addiction can’t be overcome in isolation and that clients and families do best with structure and accountability. They serve adults and adolescents through a continuum that includes non-medical detox, a 30-day inpatient program, three- to six-month residential programs for men and women, and intensive outpatient, outpatient, continuing care, and teen services. Most major private insurance plans are accepted, though they do not take Medi-Cal or Medicare.
The Skip Byron Primary Program offers round-the-clock stabilization for people who are medically stable, with individualized treatment planning, daily peer process and education groups, weekly family group therapy, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care, along with psychiatric support and medication-assisted treatment. After completing it, clients can step down to eight more weeks of intensive outpatient care and join weekly alumni aftercare meetings. The long-term Men’s Residential Program and Women’s Recovery Program are built for people who work, study, or volunteer at least 32 hours a week, combining evening and weekend groups with weekly individual counseling, random drug testing, vocational help, community service, and a spiritual retreat in Sonoma County. Outpatient clients can move up or down in intensity as needed, and the 12-week IOP meets three evenings a week for process groups, education, and individual and family counseling.
