About Odyssey House Inc

Odyssey House is a New York City treatment organization serving people across all five boroughs, including the Bronx, who are struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. They offer residential and outpatient treatment with tracks for adults, young adults, seniors, and women with children, along with permanent, transitional, and supportive housing. Care typically begins with admission and stabilization in a residential program, moves into outpatient services, and continues through a peer-based support community, with street outreach also part of their work. They accept Medicare and Medicaid and help clients find other ways to cover costs so that money doesn’t keep anyone out of treatment.

Their approach looks past sobriety alone, combining physical health care, mental health support, housing, family involvement, education, and job training to help clients build long-term stability. Clients take part in individual counseling, group therapy, mental health case management, and art and recreation activities, with primary and specialty medical care available on-site. Their medical clinic can prescribe buprenorphine or oral and injectable naltrexone for opioid use disorder, though naltrexone requires completing detox first, and naltrexone, acamprosate, or disulfiram for alcohol use disorder. Recent additions include the Kate Rothko Center for Recovery, which pairs medication for addiction treatment with an arts program, and a 60-bed residence on Wards Island for adult men with opioid use disorder.
