NorthStar Regional is a Minnesota treatment provider based in Chaska, offering integrated care for people facing both substance use and mental health challenges. They hold that addiction and co-occurring conditions must be treated together, and they pair evidence-based techniques with an abstinence-focused 12-step foundation. Their continuum includes medically managed withdrawal management (ASAM 3.7) at their Eden Prairie campus, residential treatment of up to six weeks, a three-to-four-month intensive outpatient program with lodging, standard IOP held weekday mornings and evenings, and sober living homes. In Chaska specifically, they run their women’s residential program along with IOP with lodging for both men and women, and they also offer outpatient mental health counseling for adults, teens, and children in person or by telehealth.

Residential clients attend about 31 hours of group work each week, including primary groups, a co-occurring disorders recovery group, recovery lectures, family education, daily meditation, art therapy, community meetings, and recovery yoga. Each client also has two to three individual sessions weekly with a primary counselor and a mental health therapist, where they review their treatment plan, track progress, and update their ASAM six-dimension severity ratings. Cognitive behavioral therapy is central to addressing co-occurring disorders, and medical and psychiatric services are built into the programming. Men and women live in separate facilities with round-the-clock staffing, and clients can step down into IOP, individual counseling, or sober housing as they move toward life back in the community.
