About Northland Recovery Center

Northland Recovery Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, is the substance use treatment program of Northland Counseling Center, a nonprofit community mental health center that has served northern Minnesota since 1959 and is licensed by the state Department of Human Services. They provide a full continuum of addiction care, including detox, residential treatment for adults, and outpatient treatment for both adults and adolescents. A six-bed detox unit serves men and women, and men can then step into a 16-bed high-intensity residential unit or a 10-bed medium- to low-intensity unit as their needs change.

Women have their own option at Women’s Center South, a 14-bed residential program spanning high, medium, and low intensity levels. Care there is confidential and individually tailored, and it is designed to help each woman stay connected with her children, family, and community supports during treatment. Across programs, co-occurring mental health conditions are treated by licensed therapists, a psychiatrist, and certified nurse practitioners, so people facing both addiction and mental health struggles can get help in one place. Outpatient groups run in the morning, during the day, and in the evening to fit around work and family schedules, and a DWI class is also available.
