About Northland Recovery Center
Northland Recovery Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, is the substance use treatment program of Northland Counseling Center, a nonprofit community mental health center licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services and serving northern Minnesota since 1959. They offer a continuum of care that runs from detox through residential and outpatient treatment, with outpatient services available to both adults and adolescents. Because they are part of a broader mental health organization, co-occurring conditions are addressed alongside substance use by licensed therapists, a psychiatrist, and certified nurse practitioners.
At the main center, a six-bed detox unit serves both men and women, while men can step into a 16-bed high-intensity residential unit or a 10-bed medium- to low-intensity residential unit as their needs change. Outpatient groups meet in the morning, during the day, and in the evening, which can make it easier to keep up with work or family obligations, and a DWI class is also available. Women have a separate 14-bed residential program, Women’s Center South, which offers high, medium, and low intensity levels with individually tailored care designed to help each woman stay connected to her children, family, and community supports.
