Northeastern Center is a community behavioral health provider serving DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties in northeast Indiana, including an outpatient office in Angola. They treat substance use disorder as part of a broader picture, helping clients work through related issues such as depression, anxiety, and relationship strain. Care ranges from outpatient therapy to 24/7 crisis services and an adult inpatient hospital in Auburn, where people can safely detox from alcohol, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and opiates. Inpatient substance use care requires a co-occurring mental health diagnosis, while outpatient services accept new clients, including walk-ins.

Each person builds a customized plan with their care team, which may draw on individual, couples, family, and group therapy along with case management, skills coaching, psychiatry, and medication management. Medication-assisted treatment is available, though they do not provide methadone or Suboxone and instead prescribe other options. Recovery support extends to residential services, the New Hope Clubhouse, and NEC Works employment help, and staff coordinate with families, doctors, probation officers, and employers. They serve people regardless of ability to pay, accepting Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and uninsured clients, and they offer financial aid, help applying for benefits, Indiana Recovery Works services for justice-involved clients without insurance, and free NEC Connect rides for people with ties to DeKalb County.
