About North Suffolk Community Services
North Suffolk Community Services is a community behavioral health agency serving East Boston, Charlestown, Roxbury, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop, with addiction and recovery services alongside a broad range of mental health care. They aim to step in early, respect personal choice, and treat people with dignity and cultural competence. They were one of the first Massachusetts providers to place people with lived experience on care teams alongside clinical and medical staff. Their substance use care, for adults, adolescents, and affected families, includes two residential programs, an evening intensive outpatient program, relapse prevention groups, medication therapy, recovery coaching, and peer-led recovery support, with a sliding fee scale available.
The Conexions Evening program meets five weeknights and combines clinical groups, individual support, recovery coaching, and regular toxicology screening, while Spanish-speaking adults can join an intensive group program or a 16-week relapse prevention group led by Spanish-speaking providers. Meridian House is a 30-bed co-ed therapeutic community for adults that uses a five-level system in which phone and work privileges are earned over time. Hanton House is a 12-bed co-occurring enhanced residential program for people living with serious mental illness and addiction, offering expressive therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and conflict resolution groups. Other specialized options include ASL-based group and individual therapy with Deaf clinicians, a clinician-led relapse prevention group drawing on CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, problem gambling counseling, and Project NORTH, a voluntary court-based navigation program for people involved with the justice system.
