North Coast Substance Abuse Council, also known as Crossroads, is a state-licensed residential drug and alcohol treatment program in Eureka, California, that has served the North Coast since 1975. They provide ASAM Level 3.1 residential care, with separate houses for men and women, for people working through substance use disorders. Their philosophy centers on easy access, patient-driven planning, and a home-like setting where house rules rest on common sense rather than institutional rigidity. They accept Partnership Health Plan of California, which covers most Medi-Cal members in the region, along with private pay and some other insurance.

Each resident builds their own treatment plan with a certified counselor in one-on-one sessions, supported by case management and a range of evidence-based groups. Group work includes Moral Reconation Therapy, Seeking Safety, motivational interviewing, and codependency groups. For people with opioid use disorder, they partner with licensed prescribers so residents can access buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone alongside counseling. When a bed is open, they move quickly to admit new clients and can help coordinate transportation, which matters for anyone who can’t afford to sit on a waitlist.
