About North Central MO Mental Health Center

North Central Missouri Mental Health Center is a community behavioral health provider that has served Chillicothe and the nine-county Green Hills region of north central Missouri since 1974. They offer trauma-informed outpatient mental health and substance use care for children, adolescents, and adults, with an emphasis on dignity, personal choice, and building on each person’s natural supports. Their services include assessments, counseling and therapy, psychiatric care, and treatment for co-occurring disorders. Crisis support is available around the clock by phone, and their Behavioral Health Crisis Center offers walk-in stabilization on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the goal of avoiding hospitalization whenever possible.

Their substance use services follow ASAM criteria and the ITCD model for integrated treatment, beginning with a comprehensive evaluation to match each person to the right level of care. Treatment focuses on relapse prevention and long-term wellness, and families are encouraged to take part when it helps. Clients can join youth, adult, and substance use recovery groups, work with certified peer specialists and family support providers who have lived experience, and receive psychiatric evaluation and medication management from doctors and nurse practitioners. For people with more complex needs, their Healthcare Home coordinates physical and behavioral health care, and psychosocial and community psychiatric rehabilitation programs help adults build daily living skills and independence.
