About No Longer Bound
No Longer Bound is a nonprofit, faith-based residential recovery program for men 18 and older in Cumming, Georgia, just outside Atlanta, and they have been serving men since 1990. They treat alcohol, opioid, heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and other chemical addictions through a full 12-month residential stay, built on the belief that lasting sobriety takes time and grows out of healthy connection with God, self, and others. They call their model regeneration rather than rehabilitation, and many staff members are graduates of the program. They don’t take insurance, so costs are offset by their thrift store, car sales, and donations, and scholarships are sometimes available to help with admission fees.
Clinical care blends Christ-centered, nondenominational curriculum with trauma-focused CBT, DBT, EMDR, and experiential therapies, guided by individualized care plans and overseen by a medical director and nursing staff. Early work centers on each man mapping his personal trauma history and telling his story, which helps uncover the false beliefs behind his use, while practices like moral inventories, morning confession groups, weekly house church, and Sunday services build accountability and spiritual growth. Vocational training and on-campus work prepare residents for employment, and they report that all graduates have full-time jobs by the time they finish. Families take part through weekly couples and family counseling and Sunday Family Recovery meetings, with phone contact starting after 30 days, visits after 60, and off-campus passes after 90 with care-team approval.
