About New York Center for Living Inc

New York Center for Living is a nonprofit outpatient addiction and mental health program in Midtown Manhattan, licensed by New York State OASAS, serving teens, college students, young professionals, adults, and their families. They treat substance use disorders alongside co-occurring anxiety, depression, and trauma, and they also address behavioral addictions such as compulsive screen and internet use. Care is offered through standard outpatient treatment, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) of roughly 6 to 9 clinical hours per week, and medication-assisted treatment when appropriate. Each IOP client receives an initial psychiatric evaluation with ongoing medication management as needed.

The IOP combines group sessions, weekly individual therapy, peer recovery, and family support, with separate age-appropriate tracks. Younger clients take part in improv-based therapy, community dinners, and peer activities, while adults 25 and older can attend in person or through a hybrid format focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and stress management. Clinicians draw on CBT, DBT, REBT, motivational interviewing, and exposure therapy, complemented by outdoor and recreational therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and mindfulness practices. Families can join parent-only groups, significant other groups, individual sessions, or joint family therapy, and because the center is out-of-network, they provide monthly superbills so clients can seek insurance reimbursement.
