About New River Valley Community Services
New River Valley Community Services (NRVCS) is the public behavioral health agency for the New River Valley, including Floyd, Virginia, and has served the region since 1969. They work with children and adults living with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities, using a community-based, person-centered approach aimed at independence, self-determination, and recovery. For addiction specifically, they offer a range of treatment and support programs, including a partial hospitalization program. Care is open regardless of ability to pay, and no one is turned away for lack of funds.
Their addiction services include the Recovery Dojo partial hospitalization program, New Life Recovery, a Recovery Court program, and a Bridge Program connected with non-emergency jail services for people involved with the justice system. Strategic Assertive Family Engagement (SAFE) teams bring families into the process of helping a loved one engage with care. Beyond treatment, staff help clients apply for Medicaid, disability benefits, and other assistance, offer representative payee and budgeting support, and provide transportation to medical appointments across Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski counties and the City of Radford.
