About Monarch

Monarch is a North Carolina behavioral health and human services provider, listed here in Lumberton, that has served people across the state since 1958. They offer trauma-informed care for mental illness, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries, and their addiction services address alcohol, tobacco, opioids, and other substances. Care centers on outpatient treatment, supported by community-based, crisis, and peer services. New patients can get a same-day assessment through their Open Access program, either by walking into an outpatient office or by connecting virtually.

Treatment starts with a comprehensive assessment by a licensed mental health professional, who works with the person to build an individualized plan around their goals. Ongoing therapy can happen in person at a clinic or through telehealth from home or work, with referrals to group therapy, medication management, and crisis support as needed. Beyond the clinic, they offer peer support, family peer support for caregivers, Community Support Team and Assertive Community Treatment Team services, and Individual Placement and Support to help people find employment as part of recovery. They also provide Tailored Care Management for NC Medicaid members referred by their MCO, and a free “Understanding Addiction” curriculum built specifically for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities who also struggle with substance use.
