About Monarch

Monarch is a North Carolina behavioral health and human services provider with services available in Greensboro and across the state. They have operated since 1958 and care for people living with substance use disorders, mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries, using a trauma-informed approach. Their addiction services address alcohol, tobacco, opioids, and other substances, mainly through outpatient therapy, medication management, and community-based support.

Care usually starts with a full assessment by a licensed mental health professional, who works with each person to build an individualized treatment plan. New patients can get a same-day assessment through Open Access, either by walking in or connecting virtually, and ongoing therapy is offered in person or by telehealth. Depending on their needs, people may be connected to group therapy, peer support, Community Support Team services, Assertive Community Treatment, and supported employment through Individual Placement and Support. Monarch also offers family peer support for caregivers, crisis services, Medicaid Tailored Care Management, and a free “Understanding Addiction” curriculum designed for people with both intellectual or developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.
