About Middle Flint Health and Wellness

Middle Flint Health and Wellness is a public Community Service Board serving Fort Valley and ten other Middle Georgia counties, with outpatient clinics in Fort Valley, Americus, Cordele, and Warner Robins. Formerly known as Middle Flint Behavioral Healthcare, they have spent roughly fifty years providing affordable, person-centered care for adults and youth with mental health conditions, addictive disease, and developmental disabilities. As a safety-net provider, they are often the only public option for mental health and substance use care in the area. Their services include facility-based and home-based programs, a 24-hour crisis line, and a 24-hour Crisis Stabilization Unit.

Adult programming centers on peer support from people with lived experience and psychosocial rehabilitation, along with behavioral health and nursing assessments and individualized service planning. People with serious or persistent mental illness, including those recently discharged from a state hospital or released from jail or prison, can receive case management, intensive case management, or a Community Support Team, all aimed at stable housing, steady employment, and fewer hospital stays. Their HIV Early Intervention program offers free education, rapid testing, counseling, and linkage to care, with outreach focused on the risks of injection drug use. They also provide school-based mental health services for youth, recovery court services, and family and living supports for people with developmental disabilities, and they hold CARF accreditation.
