About Mid Plains Center for

Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Health is a community behavioral health provider in Grand Island, Nebraska, that has served Central Nebraska for more than 50 years. They focus mainly on mental health but also support people with substance use concerns through outpatient counseling, psychiatric medication management, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid use. They also operate a Crisis Stabilization Unit, offer youth crisis assessment, and provide telehealth appointments after an initial intake. They accept most insurance, use a sliding fee scale, and don’t turn anyone away because they can’t pay.

Their MAT program uses medications such as Suboxone to ease cravings and withdrawal, with ongoing provider follow-up and monitoring. It’s open to people who are actively using opioids, have relapsed, or are ready to cut back or stop. Therapists provide substance use and dual diagnosis therapy alongside CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, solution-focused therapy, couples and family therapy, art and play therapy, Wellness Recovery Action Planning, and the NAVIGATE model for first-episode psychosis. A dedicated nurse helps with refills and injections between visits, an on-site Genoa pharmacy handles prescriptions, Spanish interpreters are available, and most people can meet with an intake coordinator the same week.
