About MH Providers of Western Queens Inc
Mental Health Providers of Western Queens is a community mental health agency in Woodside, New York, that has served the area for over 30 years. For more than 25 of those years, they have run Western Queens Recovery Services, an OASAS-certified outpatient program for people struggling with alcohol and drug use. They take a family-oriented approach, working with adults, adolescents, and children, as well as the significant others affected by a loved one’s substance use. Because Western Queens is home to a large immigrant population, their clinical staff speak many languages, including Spanish, Cantonese, Hindi, Russian, Bengali, and Creole.
Care begins with screening and an admission assessment, followed by individual and group counseling organized into early sobriety, relapse prevention, and advanced sobriety levels. Psychiatric evaluations, routine and complex medication management, and addiction medication induction are available alongside counseling, and dedicated tracks serve teens and family members, with codependency groups for the latter. Court-mandated clients are welcome, and the program provides state-approved evaluations and treatment for first and second DWI offenders, plus anger management, family education, smoking cessation, and regular drug testing. Vocational counseling, employment support through the STARS program, and on-site self-help meetings round out the services, with weekday evening and Saturday hours for people who work or attend school.
