Mental Health Systems Inc, now operating as TURN Behavioral Health Services, is a California nonprofit founded in 1978 that runs more than 60 community-based behavioral health programs, including the North Inland Teen Recovery Center in Escondido. They focus on people who can’t afford private care or who have no other options, and they address both substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Their substance use services cover outpatient, residential, custody-based, and sober living care, along with case management for adults, youth, and families.

Treatment is tailored to each person using evidence-based practices, with attention to the needs of people experiencing homelessness and veterans. Families are encouraged to join participants in therapeutic and recreational activities whenever possible. Beyond standard treatment, they offer justice-involved services such as DUI programs, federal probation programs, and in-custody care, plus supportive housing tied to some recovery programs. Care is delivered by a team of counselors, therapists, doctors, case managers, and peer and family support partners.
