About Mental Health Systems Inc
Mental Health Systems, now operating as TURN Behavioral Health Services, is a California nonprofit founded in 1978 that runs more than 60 community-based behavioral health programs statewide, including several in Fresno. They focus on people who cannot afford private care or who lack other options, and they address substance use disorders, mental health, supportive housing, and justice involvement. Across their network, substance use services include outpatient, residential, custody-based, sober living, and case management programs for adults, youth, families, and veterans.
In Fresno, their programs include Fresno First Women’s Residential, which pairs substance use treatment with supportive housing; Fresno IMPACT, which integrates mental health and substance use care with housing support; and Family and Youth Alternatives, which serves justice-involved clients with both mental health and substance use needs. Treatment plans are built around each person using evidence-based practices, with attention to the needs of people experiencing homelessness and veterans. Participants are encouraged to bring family members into therapeutic and recreational activities, and care teams draw on counselors, therapists, doctors, case managers, and peer and family support partners.
