About Mending Hearts

Mending Hearts is a women’s addiction treatment program in Nashville, Tennessee, that has been helping women recover since 2004. They treat substance use alongside the co-occurring mental health and trauma issues that often come with it, and they screen every client for those concerns when building a treatment plan. Their care runs from medically monitored detox through residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and peer-supported recovery housing. They have committed to never turning a woman away because she lacks insurance or can’t pay, and they accept most major insurance, take TennCare through AmeriGroup, and use state grants to cover women who couldn’t otherwise afford treatment.

Mending Hearts emphasizes long-term recovery over a 30-day model, with an average stay of three to six months and some women staying up to two years when beds allow. Detox includes round-the-clock nursing and medication-assisted treatment when a physician recommends it, while residential care combines individual and group therapy, trauma recovery groups, educational sessions, and intensive case management. In the recovery housing phase, women work, save money, rebuild relationships with their children and families, and take part in classes on GED preparation, resumes, financial planning, self-esteem, and criminal thinking, along with on-campus AA and NA meetings. Their Mending Rainbows program serves pregnant and postpartum minority women and their children, and clients across programs also attend Double Trouble in Recovery meetings for co-occurring disorders.
