About Meadows Outpatient Center
The Meadows Outpatient Center–Silicon Valley is an outpatient program in Sunnyvale, California, serving adults who are working through drug and alcohol addiction, trauma, and related mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and burnout. They are part of the larger Meadows network, and their care is built on Pia Mellody’s Meadows Model of Developmental Immaturity, which focuses on the underlying emotional trauma that often drives addictive behavior. They offer partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) care, which suits people stepping down from residential or inpatient treatment as well as those who don’t need a higher level of care. The program is certified by the California Department of Health Care Services and accepts a range of insurance plans, including TRICARE and TriWest for military families.
The eight-week IOP runs 9 to 20 hours a week, with day and evening schedules that make it easier to keep up with work and family. After an assessment, the clinical team builds each care plan from small group and individual therapy and may draw on approaches such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, cognitive behavioral therapy, neurofeedback, Internal Family Systems, and 12-Step principles. This location also offers the Safe and Sound Protocol, a listening therapy aimed at calming the nervous system, along with optional Friday trauma-sensitive yoga and arts sessions and Chinese-language breakout groups. Unbroken at The Meadows is a dedicated track for active-duty military, veterans, and first responders coping with post-traumatic stress and co-occurring substance use, and every patient gets access to the Meadows Daily+ app for support between sessions.
