About McIntyre Center Inc
McIntyre Center is a family-run outpatient alcohol and drug treatment program based in Parma, just outside Cleveland, serving clients across Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties. Edie and Joe McIntyre founded the center in 1985 with the belief that treatment should address the whole person in a small setting built on dignity and respect, and their daughter Kelley and her husband Jehad now carry that work forward. Care begins with a substance use assessment and continues through six-week non-intensive or eight-week intensive outpatient treatment, an opiate- and heroin-specific intensive track, and aftercare. Teens can access their own intensive and non-intensive outpatient services, along with diagnostic assessments and family counseling.
Treatment combines group and individual counseling with family sessions, ongoing assessment, crisis intervention, and case management, all aimed at helping clients understand their relationship with substances and make lasting lifestyle changes. Groups stay small and cover topics such as the cycle of addiction, denial and grief, the physical effects of use, relapse triggers, and 12-step recovery, with guest speakers from AA, Al-Anon, the BMV, police, insurance, and nutrition. Clients typically work with the same licensed counselors from their first visit onward. They also handle many court- and work-related needs, including a 72-hour Driver Intervention Program, education and diversion classes, urine drug screening, substance abuse professional (SAP) evaluations for CDL and DOT clients, and the BWC Drug-Free Safety Program.
