About McCarty Avenue

McCarty Avenue is an Albany, New York, location of the Addictions Care Center of Albany (ACCA), a private nonprofit that has treated substance use disorders in the Capital Region since 1967 under licensing from the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports. They offer a continuum that runs from residential stabilization, rehabilitation, and reintegration through outpatient, intensive outpatient, and evening programs, with care framed as person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented. Residential care is staffed around the clock and serves men, women, and women with their children, helping people move from early recovery toward returning to work, school, and family life.

The intensive outpatient track pairs individual and group counseling with relapse prevention, co-dependency counseling, parenting education, life skills training, and medication-assisted treatment using Vivitrol® and Suboxone. Teens receive at least an hour of individual counseling each week, group sessions twice weekly, and a multiple-family group that brings relatives into the process, while Certified Recovery Peer Advocates with lived experience are available to anyone in ACCA’s residential or outpatient programs. Men further along in recovery can step down to the Reilly House, a 12-bedroom supervised residence that focuses on employment, permanent housing, and family reunification. Priority admission goes to pregnant women, people who inject drugs, those involved in the justice system, and parents at risk of losing custody, and ACCA also provides counseling and medication treatment inside county jails.
