About Maryland Treatment Centers

Maryland Treatment Centers, also known as Mountain Manor Treatment Center, is a family-run addiction and mental health treatment organization with programs across Maryland, including two in Rockville: Avery Road Treatment Center and the Journeys outpatient program. Now in their second generation of family leadership and operating for more than 40 years, they take an integrative, holistic approach to substance use treatment and welcome people of every race, religion, gender identity, and income level. Their continuum includes medical detox, inpatient rehab, long-term residential care, intensive outpatient, standard outpatient, and recovery support services. They accept Maryland Medicaid and most major commercial insurance, and uninsured patients can be assessed for sliding scale fees or public funding.

At Avery Road, adults 21 and older can receive residential, non-hospital detox and intermediate inpatient care, with typical stays of about 21 to 28 days. Addiction medicine specialists use medications to make withdrawal safer and more comfortable, and patients can begin maintenance medications such as buprenorphine (Suboxone) or Vivitrol for relapse prevention, while counselors teach early recovery skills and build an individualized plan for step-down care. Journeys serves both adults and adolescents through intensive outpatient and outpatient programs offered in person or by telehealth, combining individual and group counseling with access to an addiction medicine physician. Transportation can be arranged on request, and many staff members are in recovery themselves, some having completed one of the organization’s own programs.
