About Macomb Family Services Inc

Macomb Family Services Inc is a community counseling agency that has served Macomb County residents for more than 60 years, with locations across the county including Richmond, Michigan. They view addiction as a progressive disease that harms quality of life and as a social problem that ripples out to families and partners. Their care is outpatient and counseling-based, offering individual, group, family, and partner treatment alongside mental health services. They also conduct one-time substance abuse evaluations for court or attorney purposes and driver’s license evaluations for the Secretary of State, accept most insurance, and offer a sliding fee scale based on income.

New clients start with an evaluation by a therapist who specializes in substance use disorders, which shapes a personalized treatment plan built mainly on Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Counselors help clients pinpoint the habits, rituals, and triggers behind their use, break change into manageable steps, and work with loved ones on codependency and enabling. Clients in individual counseling can also join 10-week groups of about 7 to 9 people that meet for 90 minutes, with co-ed groups in Clinton Township and Romeo and a trauma-focused women’s group in Romeo. For young people, they run a free six-session Adolescent Outreach Program through middle and high schools, along with school-based prevention curricula such as Botvin Life Skills, Too Good for Drugs, and Prime for Life.
