About Locust Street Resource Center
Locust Street Resource Center is a not-for-profit behavioral health agency serving several counties in central Illinois, with substance use treatment offered at their Carlinville and Carrollton offices. For more than 40 years, they have supported youth, families, adults, and seniors through mental health counseling, substance use care, developmental disability services, adult protective services, and senior programs. Their addiction services are outpatient, delivered in a community setting where clients can also get help with mental health needs.
Licensed staff handle evaluations, interventions, and ongoing treatment for both adolescents and adults, using a mix of individual and group sessions. Alongside counseling and therapy, they run 24-hour crisis response and the Living Room in Carlinville, a free drop-in space open around the clock to anyone 18 or older. Visitors don’t need to be current clients, and staff there can help people who are overwhelmed or struggling to talk things through, connect with local resources, and map out next steps. The Carlinville office also keeps evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which can make appointments easier for people who work or go to school during the day.
