About Licking County Alc Prevention Program
Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program (LAPP) is a nonprofit outpatient behavioral health agency in Newark, Ohio, that has helped Licking County residents with alcohol and drug problems since 1968. They offer integrated treatment for individuals and families, including care for people facing both substance use and mental health conditions, and they also see clients at a satellite office in Pataskala. Care begins with an assessment and a personalized plan, followed by individual counseling, group therapy, an intensive outpatient program, and aftercare. LAPP is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and accredited by CARF International.
Their adult groups are matched to each client’s stage of change, so someone unsure about treatment can start in an outreach or Discovery group before moving into more structured work. The Men’s Recovery Program and the IOP, which meets three hours a day, three days a week, use the Matrix Model to explore how addiction affects the brain and to identify triggers and thinking errors. Other groups address trauma and PTSD, co-occurring disorders through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, cognitive behavioral skills, and relapse prevention, with weekly aftercare to support long-term sobriety. LAPP also runs a gender-specific women’s program, youth treatment, the Options 72 Hour Driver Intervention Program, and services in the county jail, and they work closely with local OVI and specialized treatment courts.
