About Liberation Programs Inc
Liberation Programs is a nonprofit behavioral health organization that has served Fairfield County, Connecticut, since 1971, with sites in Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, and Westport. In Greenwich, they offer youth and family resources through offices at the YMCA and on the Greenwich High School campus. Across the agency, they treat alcohol, opioid, stimulant, depressant, and other substance use disorders alongside mental health conditions, with care spanning residential treatment, outpatient and intensive outpatient programs, medication-assisted treatment, and supportive housing for families. Their approach focuses on uncovering the root causes of addiction, building self-sufficiency, and keeping people safe whether or not they are ready to stop using.
Residential options include THRIVE, a trauma-informed Level 3.5 program for adult women in Norwalk, and Liberation House, a 64-bed men’s program in Stamford, each offering stays of up to 90 days with individualized service plans, weekly one-on-one counseling, group and family therapy, and help with employment and housing. Outpatient clinics in Stamford and Bridgeport operate six days a week and provide counseling, relapse prevention, recovery coach-led support groups, mental health services, and MAT with buprenorphine, Vivitrol, and methadone, including the only federally licensed methadone clinic in Stamford. Their youth and family services reach teens through school-based counseling and help families cope with a loved one’s addiction. Most clients use Medicaid, no one is turned away for inability to pay, sliding-scale fees and scholarship beds for opioid use disorder may be available, and free Narcan training is offered.
