About La Esperanza Health Counseling Servs
La Esperanza Health Counseling Services is a bilingual nonprofit serving the Seattle area and the wider Puget Sound region, with offices in Lynnwood, Burien, and Mount Vernon. Since 2005, they have provided outpatient drug and alcohol treatment in English and Spanish, with a particular focus on Hispanic, Latino, and immigrant communities, including Latino youth. Their care centers on overall physical and mental well-being, helping each client work toward personal goals and take greater responsibility toward their family, community, and workplace. Services include DUI alcohol and drug assessments, one- and two-year intensive outpatient programs, and a relapse prevention aftercare program.
Much of their work supports people navigating the court system, including a two-year deferred prosecution program, the 8-hour Alcohol and Other Drugs Information School (ADIS), and a Spanish-language DUI victim’s panel. Treatment combines supportive group sessions with supervised individual counseling, offered in a respectful and non-judgmental setting. Beyond substance use, they run anger management classes at two levels, a consumer awareness class for shoplifting offenses, a state-certified domestic violence perpetrator program, and referrals for domestic violence victims. Families can also take part in parenting classes in English and Spanish and a family intervention program.
