About Korean Community Services Inc
Korean Community Services, now operating as KCS Health Center, is a nonprofit federally qualified health center serving Irvine and the wider Orange County area. Their addiction medicine program sits alongside primary care, dental, pediatrics, optometry, and behavioral health in a network of about ten clinics and counseling sites. They began in 1977 as a Los Angeles church mission project and later became one of Orange County’s largest court-mandated counseling providers, including programs for drunk driving and drug offenses. Care is offered in English, Korean, Spanish, and Chinese, and interpreters are available for other languages.
For substance use disorders, they offer outpatient treatment that includes medication-assisted treatment, with video visits available for people who can’t easily come in. No referral or prior authorization is needed to start SUD care, and they accept Medi-Cal plans such as CalOptima, Medicare, and a sliding fee scale based on income and family size. Because the program is part of an integrated health center, patients can also get individual therapy, psychiatry, and medication management, as well as acupuncture and chiropractic care, from the same team. On-site pharmacies at select locations, transportation help, and assistance renewing Medi-Cal coverage can make it easier to stay engaged in treatment.
