Kentucky River Community Care is a community behavioral health organization serving Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, and Wolfe Counties in eastern Kentucky, with outpatient clinics in each county, including Lee County, where Beattyville is located. They treat both substance use and mental health concerns using a trauma-informed approach, offering individual, group, and family therapy along with medication management from licensed or credentialed clinicians. For people in immediate distress, they run a 24-hour crisis line and a 24-hour sexual assault response program. No one is turned away for inability to pay, and fees can be reduced based on household size and income.

Several of their substance use programs are built for people involved with the legal system. Their Drug Court services, available by court referral, include in-depth assessment, individual and group therapy, education, case management, aftercare, and access to planned housing when residential treatment is needed. The DUI program starts with a clinical interview and the Kentucky Assessment Battery, followed by a 20-hour pre-treatment course and evidence-based outpatient therapy, with referrals to specialized residential programs when a higher level of care is needed. Young people under 21 who have come before the courts for violence, impaired driving, or alcohol, tobacco, or drug use can take part in an early intervention program focused on safer decision-making, stronger family relationships, and preventing repeat offenses. They also provide ASL interpreters, video relay, and language interpretation at no cost, so Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and non-English-speaking clients can fully take part in care.
