Kentucky River Community Care is a community behavioral health organization serving Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, and Wolfe Counties in eastern Kentucky, including Campton. They treat substance use and mental health concerns through county-based outpatient clinics, where licensed or credentialed professionals offer individual, group, and family therapy along with medication management. Their care is trauma-informed, and they run a 24-hour crisis and information line as well as a sexual assault response program. No one is turned away for inability to pay, and fees are discounted based on household size and income.

Much of their substance use work centers on people involved with the courts. Their Drug Court program, open by court referral, combines in-depth assessment, individual and group therapy, education, and case management, with planned housing for residential treatment when needed and aftercare to support the return to everyday life. The DUI program starts with a clinical interview and the Kentucky Assessment Battery, followed by a 20-hour pre-treatment course and evidence-based outpatient therapy in a group or one-on-one format, with referrals to residential programs when more intensive care is warranted. Young people under 21 facing court involvement for alcohol, drugs, tobacco, violence, or impaired driving can take part in an early intervention program focused on safer choices, stronger family relationships, and avoiding repeat offenses. Free ASL interpreters, video relay, and language interpretation are available for anyone who needs them.
