About Kai Shin Treatment

Kai Shin Treatment, part of Kai Shin Clinic, is a Minnesota outpatient program with clinics in St. Paul and Bemidji that focuses on people facing substance use alongside depression, anxiety, PTSD, or stress. They treat addiction and mental health together and aim to remove common barriers to care. Services include ambulatory detox, medication-assisted treatment, comprehensive chemical health assessments, and several levels of outpatient care, including an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a standard Outpatient Program (OP), and a Long-Term Remission program. They also offer psychiatry, medication management, and therapy.

Their 16-week IOP meets weekday mornings and is designed for people stepping down from a higher level of care, with daily groups, weekly individual counseling, and peer support available every day. A Native American track adds traditional teachings, drumming, smudging, and ceremony when available. As clients gain independence, they can move into the 8-week OP or the 10-week remission program, which includes biweekly treatment plan updates and regular drug screening, and groups can be joined in person or virtually. Weekly mental health groups, an accredited on-site lab, trauma-informed primary care, and acceptance of Medicaid and most insurance plans help clients care for their overall health while in recovery.
