About Iroquois Mental Health Center

Iroquois Mental Health Center is a nonprofit community mental health center that has served Iroquois, Kankakee, and Vermilion Counties in east central Illinois since 1970, with offices in Watseka and Kankakee. Their Substance Use Disorder Program builds each person’s recovery plan around their own strengths, values, and goals, aiming for long-term abstinence and a stable, healthy life. They treat substance use disorders alongside related mental health concerns and offer early intervention, outpatient, and intensive outpatient levels of care. They also provide comprehensive DUI services and a separate gambling recovery program.

Care draws on motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and psychotherapy, delivered through individual counseling, group therapy, and family therapy. Treatment starts with a substance use assessment, and case management and psychiatric services are available for people who need more coordinated or medical support. Family members can get their own guidance and practical tools for coping and rebuilding healthier relationships at home. At the Watseka office, the gambling program offers assessments, individual and group counseling, family sessions, help with self-exclusion, and referrals to outside support. The center also runs first responder wellness services and an employee assistance program.
