About Inter County Council on Drug/Alc Abuse
Inter-County Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse is a nonprofit outpatient treatment provider in Kearny, New Jersey, serving adolescents and adults from Hudson, Bergen, Essex, Morris, and Passaic Counties since 1971. They focus on client-centered care that addresses substance use alongside psychological distress, and they involve family members and significant others in the process. Their services include outpatient counseling, substance abuse evaluations, and a medication-assisted therapy program that pairs daily methadone dosing with individual counseling. They are licensed by the state’s Division of Addiction Services and accredited by CARF.
Outpatient clients can take part in individual, group, and family sessions aimed at building insight into their substance use and the problems connected to it. They also run a DWI program for people referred by New Jersey’s Intoxicated Drivers Resource Centers, and they offer urine drug screening to both current clients and walk-ins. Supporting services include psycho-educational groups, case management, crisis intervention, and referrals to social services. Care comes from an interdisciplinary team that includes an addiction medicine physician, nurses, and a pharmacist, and counseling is available in Spanish.
