About IMPOWER
IMPOWER is a Longwood, Florida nonprofit that has offered mental health, substance use, and child well-being services since 1994, and they were the state’s first nonprofit to provide behavioral health care through telehealth. Their substance use services cover both teens and adults and address co-occurring conditions like depression, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD alongside use of alcohol, marijuana, opioids, fentanyl, stimulants, benzodiazepines, vaping, and other substances. Levels of care include a 90-day teen residential program called The Grove, a teen day/night partial hospitalization program, and outpatient counseling for all ages, delivered mostly by telehealth. They accept commercial insurance, Medicaid, Tricare, and Medicare, and offer sliding-scale fees based on household income.
At The Grove, adolescents receive individual, family, and daily group therapy, weekly psychiatric care with medication management, expressive arts and experiential therapies, mindfulness practice, life skills workshops, and peer recovery support. Teens attend class on campus each weekday with a personalized academic plan, and every graduate leaves with an aftercare plan that continues therapy and medication management through telehealth. Medical detox isn’t available on-site, so teens need medical clearance before admission, and IMPOWER can connect families with detox partners. Outpatient clients are usually matched with a master’s-level therapist within 24 to 48 hours and work on CBT-based coping skills and relapse prevention plans, with bilingual sessions, evening and weekend scheduling, and family or partner involvement available.
