Imperial Calcasieu Human Services Authority (ImCal HSA) is a public behavioral health agency based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, created by the state legislature to serve residents of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis parishes. Their behavioral health division offers outpatient care for adults and children living with mental illness, addiction to alcohol or drugs, or compulsive gambling, and their clinics are CARF-accredited. For substance use, they provide assessment, outpatient counseling, and an intensive outpatient program, and they refer people to outside detox and inpatient programs when a higher level of care is needed. Same-day appointments and a 24/7 crisis line are available, and pregnant women who use substances and people who inject drugs receive priority admission.
Treatment combines individual, family, and group therapy with psychiatric evaluation, medication management, drug screening, and medical assessment, delivered by physicians, nurses, licensed clinicians, addiction specialists, and peer support specialists. Additional services include support groups, aftercare, HIV, STD, and TB screening, an on-site pharmacy with patient assistance programs, and help applying for Medicaid. Through the Louisiana Bridge Program, substance use navigators work inside several area hospital emergency departments to connect overdose survivors and others with substance use disorders to care, including medication-assisted treatment, and they follow up with patients and families after discharge. Fees follow an income-based sliding scale, and they accept Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance, with payment plans available.
