About Houses of Hope of Nebraska Inc

Houses of Hope of Nebraska is a long-standing recovery organization in Lincoln, Nebraska, that has supported people with substance use and mental health conditions since 1962. They began as a transitional living program and have grown into a range of services meant to support each stage of recovery, including substance use evaluations, outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programming (IOP), and transitional living. They have also taken over the short-term residential program they ran with a partner for 25 years, though that service is paused while their new building is renovated. Their stated aim is to help people reach stability and independence, rebuild healthy relationships, and contribute to their communities, and they hold CARF accreditation.

Outpatient care is delivered by licensed alcohol and drug counselors and mental health therapists, and every service takes a co-occurring approach, so substance use and mental health concerns are addressed together. Clients can also work with a Certified Peer Support Specialist, someone with lived experience who offers encouragement and accountability alongside clinical treatment. Services are available in Spanish, which can make a real difference for Spanish-speaking individuals and families. For adults living with chronic substance use and serious mental illness, their Intensive Community and Recovery Support program provides coordinated case management through a collaboration called TASC, with a focus on stabilization and building a life in the community.
