About House of TIME Inc

The House of T.I.M.E. (This I Must Earn) in Columbus, Georgia, is a free, long-term residential recovery program and housing provider for homeless women over 18 who struggle with alcohol or drug addiction, often alongside mental illness. Since 1994, they have focused on women who haven’t been able to stay sober through shorter programs, offering a highly structured setting with firm rules and clear expectations instead of a quick 28-day stay. Their two main services are transitional housing with recovery support and permanent supportive housing, and mothers with children are welcome.

Their transitional program, Time to Recover, houses up to 24 women for as long as 24 months and takes a whole-person, trauma-informed approach. Along with addiction, residents work through the effects of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, gaps in education, and unmet healthcare needs while learning practical skills for living independently. For families, the Homeless to Home, Family Matters program provides permanent supportive housing for up to 50 women and children, so mothers can stay with their kids while they build stability and self-sufficiency. This long-term model may be a good fit for women who need safe housing and steady accountability to make their recovery last.
