About Horizon Health Services Inc
Horizon Health Services is a nonprofit behavioral health organization in Buffalo, New York. Founded in 1975, they are one of the largest outpatient providers of substance use and mental health treatment in Western New York, with more than 20 locations across Erie, Niagara, and Genesee Counties and virtual care available statewide. They treat the full range of substance use disorders, along with co-occurring mental health conditions, for adults, adolescents 13 and older, and families. Care spans outpatient counseling and telehealth, plus detox and crisis stabilization at the Terrace House campus in Buffalo and residential rehabilitation at the Sanborn campus, both run by their affiliate Horizon Village.
Individual and group counseling draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing, with psychiatric consultation available when needed. Addiction medicine providers offer medication-assisted treatment with buprenorphine, Suboxone, Sublocade, Vivitrol, and naltrexone to ease cravings and withdrawal, and they set recovery and harm reduction goals together with each patient. Families can join therapy sessions and get guidance from a dedicated Family Support Team, while peer advocates with lived experience support both patients and their loved ones. Other services include DWI assessments, care coordination for Medicaid members, and free vocational help with resumes, job searches, and interview preparation for Erie and Niagara County residents in treatment.
