About Hope Center
The Hope Center in Lexington, Kentucky, is a nonprofit that combines a 24-hour emergency shelter with addiction recovery, mental health care, and housing for people dealing with substance use disorder, mental illness, and homelessness. Their recovery work, which began in 1996 and later served as a model for the statewide Recovery Kentucky network, takes a long-term, peer-driven approach under professional supervision, with a strong emphasis on personal responsibility and mutual accountability. Care options include long-term residential recovery programs for men and women, a 30-day residential treatment program, and intensive outpatient services.
The men’s and women’s recovery programs are housed in separate residential centers and follow the Recovery Dynamics curriculum, and the women’s program adds gender-specific features. Their 30-day program at the Don & Cathy Jacobs House is CARF accredited and rated ASAM Level 3.1. It offers individual and group therapy using CBT, Motivational Interviewing, ACT, DBT, and the Matrix Model, along with integrated care for co-occurring mental health conditions and individualized discharge planning. The IOP gives men and women a more flexible option built on group therapy and 12-step education led by behavioral health clinicians, and clients can move into other Hope Center services afterward, including drug- and alcohol-free transitional and permanent housing, employment support, and a recovery program inside the Fayette County Detention Center.
