About Hillcrest Washington Youth Home Inc

Hillcrest is a youth services organization in Evansville, Indiana, offering substance use treatment for adolescents. Their programs serve young people roughly 12 to 18 years old and range from early intervention for teens who have just started using to outpatient and residential care for those with more serious substance problems. The approach centers on motivation and personal choice, helping teens look honestly at their lives and decide for themselves to change. Referrals come through the Department of Child Services, juvenile probation, or, for some programs, directly from families.

Both the residential and outpatient programs use Seven Challenges, an evidence-based model built for adolescents that guides them through decision-making about drug use and prepares them to follow through on changes. The outpatient track lasts 16 weeks for teens ages 13 to 18 and combines group, individual, and family therapy, so parents can take part in the process. The residential program offers more intensive treatment for teens who are abusing or dependent on substances. For younger or newer users, the Substance Abuse Treatment Initiative (SATI) uses the ARISE curriculum in eight group sessions covering the facts, risks, and consequences of marijuana, alcohol, and nicotine use, with a $35 fee due at the intake assessment and self-referrals accepted.
