About Heritage Foundation

The Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit in southwest Georgia offering prevention, intervention, and treatment services for substance use, family problems, and youth mental health. Counselor Dr. Gloria D. Jones founded them in 1989 as cultural outreach for African American youth. In 1994 they broadened their mission after recognizing the generational, psychosocial, and behavioral struggles affecting whole families. Today they run several programs for addictive disorders and child and adolescent mental health, with both residential and outpatient care.

Maya’s House is a residential substance use program for women and their children, built around removing addiction as a barrier to finding and keeping steady work. House of Focus is an outpatient option for women and families who have hit a setback in recovery, emphasizing life skills and healthier choices as they rebuild daily life. The Sycamore Center serves young people through diagnostic assessments, intensive in-home counseling, and case management, helping them manage moods, cope with emotions, and handle challenges at home and school. Additional outpatient offerings include gender-specific substance use and family violence groups, along with anger management, parenting, trauma, individual, family, and marriage counseling. They accept Medicaid, Aetna, BCBS of Georgia, Peach State, Amerigroup, and private insurance with prior authorization, and a sliding fee scale is available for self-pay clients.
