About Helen Ross McNabb Center

The Helen Ross McNabb Center is a nonprofit behavioral health organization based in Knoxville, Tennessee, serving communities across East Tennessee with mental health, substance use, social, and victim services. For addiction care, they offer a full continuum that includes medical detox for adults, residential treatment for adolescents and adults, intensive outpatient programs, medication-assisted treatment, and recovery and peer support. The state has designated them a Co-Occurring Disorders Enhanced facility, which means their substance use and mental health care are closely integrated for people dealing with both.

Their detox program is built for adults facing high-risk withdrawal from opioids, alcohol, or other substances, with nurses and clinicians managing evaluation and withdrawal through physician-approved protocols. Residential clients take part in individual therapy, group therapy, and education aimed at recovery and healthier living, while intensive outpatient participants attend 9 to 12 hours of structured therapy and education each week in gender-specific or youth groups. Medication-assisted treatment pairs counseling and behavioral therapy with medications such as Vivitrol or buprenorphine to ease withdrawal and cravings. Veterans, service members, and their families can also receive free counseling for substance use, PTSD, and co-occurring conditions through their Military Services program, and a mobile health clinic brings screening and treatment to several rural counties.
