About Hector Reyes House
Hector Reyes House is a six-month residential substance use treatment program in Worcester, Massachusetts, run by the Latin American Health Alliance for Latino men. With room for 25 men at a time, they are the only Latino-focused treatment facility in Central Massachusetts, and they build their program around removing the language and cultural barriers that often keep Latino men from getting care. Their view is that a few months of treatment isn’t enough, so they pair residential care with housing and job training to support long-term recovery. Applicants need to have completed detox first, ideally followed by a stay at a clinical stabilization or transitional support program, and must be referred by a case manager, social worker, or similar professional, since self-referrals aren’t accepted.
Residents receive in-house medical care alongside intensive cognitive behavioral therapy, with recovery coaching, case management, and legal assistance woven into the program. After graduating, men can move into Casa Reyes or Casa Mattie, two transitional recovery homes next door where they live more independently while still joining groups and activities at the treatment center. Each home has a House Manager and a Supportive Housing Advocate who meets with residents weekly on goals like stable housing, employment, life skills, securing benefits such as SNAP and SSI, and keeping up with court orders or DCF plans. They also run Café Reyes, which offers job training to current residents and graduates, along with peer mentorship, transportation to off-site services, and fitness and wellness programming.
