About Heart River Alcohol and
Heart River Alcohol and Drug Services, now known as Heart River Services, is a private outpatient practice in Dickinson, North Dakota, offering chemical dependency assessments and treatment. Marsha Wieglenda founded the practice in 1991, and John Wieglenda, a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor who is in long-term recovery himself, now owns it. Their approach centers on realistic, individualized recommendations, and they aim to connect every person they assess with the right level of care, whether that care happens at their office or elsewhere. Services include chemical dependency evaluations, evening outpatient treatment groups, and telehealth for clients who can’t attend in person.
Many people start with a confidential evaluation lasting one to two hours, which reviews substance use history and overall well-being and can meet court, workplace, or personal needs. Prime for Life DUI education classes are available in group settings or individual online sessions, and the evening outpatient groups let clients keep up with work, school, and family obligations during treatment. Their Recovery+ program pairs traditional 12-Step recovery with a whole-person focus on biological, psychological, social, and spiritual wellness. They also offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy, an eye-movement-based approach for trauma, anxiety, depression, and cravings, along with brain health coaching based on Dr. Daniel Amen’s Bright Minds program.
